“Ye shall make you no idols…”

Manner of Life
Except the LORD build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the LORD keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain. Psalm 127:1

Daily Meditation
“Ye shall make you no idols…”
Turn ye not unto idols, nor make to yourselves molten gods: I am the LORD your God. Ye shall make you no idols nor graven image, neither rear you up a standing image, neither shall ye set up any image of stone in your land, to bow down unto it: for I am the LORD your God. And if ye walk contrary unto me, and will not hearken unto me; I will bring seven times more plagues upon you according to your sins. Leviticus 19:4; Leviticus 26:1; Leviticus 26:21

Hymn
“Lord of all the earth.” Zechariah 6:5
God eternal, Lord of all,
Lowly at Thy feet we fall;
All the earth doth worship Thee;
We amidst the throng would be.

Glorified apostles raise
Night and day continual praise;
Hast Thou not a mission, too,
For Thy children here to do?

With Thy prophets’ goodly line
We in mystic bond combine;
For Thou hast to babes revealed
Things that to the wise were sealed.

All Thy Church in Heav’n and earth
Jesus, hail Thy spotless birth,
Own the God Who all has made,
And the Spirit’s soothing aid.

Offspring of a virgin’s womb,
Slain, and Victor o’er the tomb,
Seated on the judgment throne,
Number us among Thine own.

Consolation
Confounded be all they that serve graven images, that boast themselves of idols: worship him, all ye gods. Zion heard, and was glad; and the daughters of Judah rejoiced because of thy judgments, O LORD. For thou, LORD, art high above all the earth: thou art exalted far above all gods. Psalm 97:7-9

Exhortation
For though there be that are called gods, whether in heaven or in earth, (as there be gods many, and lords many,) But to us there is but one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we in him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we by him. Howbeit there is not in every man that knowledge: for some with conscience of the idol unto this hour eat it as a thing offered unto an idol; and their conscience being weak is defiled. 1 Corinthians 8:5-7

Today’s Reading: Eze. 12, 13, 14, 15

Proverbs
I was set up from everlasting, from the beginning, or ever the earth was. When there were no depths, I was brought forth; when there were no fountains abounding with water. Before the mountains were settled, before the hills was I brought forth: While as yet he had not made the earth, nor the fields, nor the highest part of the dust of the world. Proverbs 8:23-26

Weekly Verse:
And in that day shall ye say, Praise the LORD, call upon his name, declare his doings among the people, make mention that his name is exalted. Isaiah 12:4

I Pray Thee
Gracious Father, show us the error of our way and strengthen us to turn from them, so that all we do think and say may be done to your praise, glory and honor. In Jesus name we pray, Amen.
