“I will liken him unto a wise man,”
For what saith the scripture? Abraham believed God, and it was counted unto him for righteousness. So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: Except the LORD build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the LORD keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain. Stricken, smitten, and afflicted,
See Him dying on the tree!
’Tis the Christ by man rejected;

Lamb of God for sinners wounded!
Sacrifice to cancel guilt!
None shall ever be confounded
Who on Him their hope have built.
Consolation
We having the same spirit of faith, according as it is written, I believed, and therefore have I spoken; we also believe, and therefore speak; Knowing that he which raised up the Lord Jesus shall raise up us also by Jesus, and shall present us with you.
