“Honour thy father and thy mother:”

Manner of Life
Except the LORD build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the LORD keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain. Psalm 127:1

Daily Meditation
“Honour thy father and thy mother:”
Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right. Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee. …He that curseth father or mother, let him die the death. Ephesians 6:1; Exodus 20:12; Matthew 15:4

Hymn
“The Lord will give you according as He has promised.” Exodus 12:25
Brother, is your face toward the Canaan of rest?
Trust in the promise of the Savior;
Sister, are you bound for the home of the blest?
Trust in the promise of thy Lord.

Chorus
He will walk beside us, in His mercy hide us;
With His eye He’ll guide us, trust in Him.
Yes, we’ll trust in Jesus. Yes, we’ll trust in Jesus.
He’ll forsake us never, trust in Him.

Brother, is your faith looking upward today?
Trust in the promise of the Savior.
Sister, is the light shining bright on your way?
Trust in the promise of thy Lord.

Brother, persevere and be firm to the last,
Trust in the promise of the Savior;
Sister, you shall rest when your labor is past,
Trust in the promise of thy Lord.

Consolation
There is treasure to be desired and oil in the dwelling of the wise; but a foolish man spendeth it up. He that followeth after righteousness and mercy findeth life, righteousness, and honour. A wise man scaleth the city of the mighty, and casteth down the strength of the confidence thereof. Proverbs 21:20-22

Exhortation
Regard not them that have familiar spirits, neither seek after wizards, to be defiled by them: I am the LORD your God. Thou shalt rise up before the hoary head, and honour the face of the old man, and fear thy God: I am the LORD. And if a stranger sojourn with thee in your land, ye shall not vex him. Leviticus 19:31-33

Proverbs
Lest thou give thine honour unto others, and thy years unto the cruel: Lest strangers be filled with thy wealth; and thy labours be in the house of a stranger; And thou mourn at the last, when thy flesh and thy body are consumed, And say, How have I hated instruction, and my heart despised reproof; Proverbs 5: 9-12

Weekly Verse:
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. John 3:16

I Pray Thee
Merciful Father, help us this day to sit quietly at thy feet so we may learn to be more like thee while living for thee. In Jesus name we pray, Amen.
