“Verily, verily, I say unto you,”

Manner of Life
Except the LORD build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the LORD keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain. Psalm 127:1

Daily Meditation
“Verily, verily, I say unto you,”
He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not. He came unto his own, and his own received him not. Verily, verily, I say unto you, That ye shall weep and lament, but the world shall rejoice: and ye shall be sorrowful, but your sorrow shall be turned into joy. Isaiah 53:3; John 1:11; John 16:20

Hymn
“The Son of God, Who loved me, and gave Himself for me.” Galatians 2:20
Was it for me, the nails, the spear,
The cruel thorns, the mocking jeer,
That rugged cross, ’twixt earth and sky—
Was it for me He came to die?

Chorus
He loved me so! He loved me so!
Dark Calvary He chose to know,
To vanquish sin and death and woe;
’Twas all because He loved me so.

Was it for me, that opened tomb,
Dispelling fear and death and gloom?
So vast a truth proclaims to me
That I through Him can victor be.

Yes, all for me—the cross, the grave,
A risen Lord with power to save!
My joyful heart is filled with praise
As songs of happiness I raise.

Consolation
Now I rejoice, not that ye were made sorry, but that ye sorrowed to repentance: for ye were made sorry after a godly manner, that ye might receive damage by us in nothing. For godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation not to be repented of: but the sorrow of the world worketh death. For behold this selfsame thing, that ye sorrowed after a godly sort, what carefulness it wrought in you, yea, what clearing of yourselves, yea, what indignation, yea, what fear, yea, what vehement desire, yea, what zeal, yea, what revenge! In all things ye have approved yourselves to be clear in this matter. 2 Corinthians 7:9-11

Exhortation
It is better to go to the house of mourning, than to go to the house of feasting: for that is the end of all men; and the living will lay it to his heart. Sorrow is better than laughter: for by the sadness of the countenance the heart is made better. The heart of the wise is in the house of mourning; but the heart of fools is in the house of mirth. Ecclesiastes 7:2-4

Proverbs
Let them be only thine own, and not strangers' with thee. Let thy fountain be blessed: and rejoice with the wife of thy youth. Let her be as the loving hind and pleasant roe; let her breasts satisfy thee at all times; and be thou ravished always with her love. And why wilt thou, my son, be ravished with a strange woman, and embrace the bosom of a stranger? Proverbs 5: 17-20

Weekly Verse:
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. John 3:16

I Pray Thee
Our Father, help us so that we do not rejoice in our sins. Show us the error of our ways and give us the strength to turn from them. Turn our hearts to thee and help us to seek thee more and more. This we ask in Jesus name, Amen.
